“I failed once already with carbon, early on, the result was corny and unreasonable. It’s an incredible performance material, but I struggled with it being too sterile for painting. I have since learned how to do more with less, no resin methods and different stabilizing techniques for layering while remaining flexible. The aesthetic achieved is still unreasonable but more organic, complex and delicious. It’s different than what I’m used to on traditional paper, you start with the sleek darkness, an have to escape it, I’m excited about that.”

The Studio is debuting carbon, and large hand-made papers as part of its second independent event happening on March 28, 2026.

It is very difficult to create original work all the time without abusing production or one’s own talents. In my painting and draftsmanship I look for interesting visions, and layer them slowly with time and fortune to obtain a result that feels original. The application of layers is not overwhelming or in turn, sanitized. In the upcoming show “Memories” the artist continues approaching the movement and time of things with this attitude. A display in honest terms, on canvas and carbon, of the right amount of drawing. Join us March 28, 2026 for the opening of “Memories”
